New Balls for 2009/2010 Kicking Lessons & Kicking Camps

Starting this weekend I'll be using Spalding J5V ADVANCE Footballs for all my kicking lessons and kicking camp students in 9th grade and up. They are the official ball of the CIF (California) Southern Section and just about every High School between Los Angeles and San Diego use them. I will be using them now too. Very soft leather, nice quality, build, and durable. A lot more expensive but hopefully my students will enjoy them and will help their kicking game since it will be the ball they use in High School. We will still continue to use Wilson TDJ Composite and Wilson TDY Composite footballs for our youth students.

High School Kicker Boots 60 Yard Field Goal

Jesse Sandoval, standout kicker from Valencia H.S. in Placentia, CA kicks 40-60 yard Field Goals in a private kicking lesson on 8-24-09 with Coach Brent from www.kickingworld.com Jesse is a talented young man with a good head on his shoulders and should be playing college football next year. Kicks in this video are 43, 45, 50, 55, 60 yard field goals.

Kicking World Moves To San Diego - California

Coach Brent of Kicking World (www.kickingworld.com) has moved from Orange County, CA to Beautiful San Diego, CA! After a 2.5 year stint in Orange County and having lived in New Jersey his entire life prior to that, Coach Brent found a much better fit in San Diego.

"I'm extremely happy I made the move to San Diego. Everything is great here- the people, the weather, outdoor activities, food, the action, sports teams- Padres/Chargers, and the fact that everything is within minutes."

Coach Brent moved to downtown San Diego and will now conduct private kicking lessons in San Diego. Since he has a lot of clients from LA and OC he will still drive up that way a couple times a month, but the majority of kicking lessons will now be offered in/around Central San Diego.

To arrange a private kicking lesson in San Diego or private punting lesson in San Diego, please call Coach Brent directly at 619-564-1333. The private lessons are $70 per lesson or 5 lessons for $300. Each lesson is approximately 50 minutes long and it is truly '1 on 1' and you work exclusively with Coach Brent.

Laguna Hills HS Kicker/Punter Richie Hogan Commits to Central Michigan University!

Outstanding Kicker & Punter Combo, Richie Hogan, #16 of Laguna Hills HS recently commited to Central Michigan University! He will go from being a "Hawk" to a "Chippewa." I had the pleasure to coach Richie this season as the Special Teams Coach at Laguna Hills HS. He is one of the best kickers coming out of High School that I ever worked with. I'm expecting him to do big things in Michigan! Please join me in congratulating Richie on an outstanding career at Laguna Hills HS and wish him much success in college!

The 2009 Kicking Camp season is officially kicking off next weekend, on May 17th in Austin, Texas! We will "Keep Austin Weird" (a saying in Texas) and have a very special guest instructor- 2008 Arena Football League Kicker of the Year, A.J. Haglund! A.J. and Coach Brent will be on hand to provide personalized kicking AND punting instruction to all the camp students. We're both looking forward to doing it big in Texas. After the camp all students are invited to meet us at Rudy's for a good 'ol Southern BBQ feast and kicker talk!

Kicking World Student Commits to Colorado!

Zach Grossnickle, a Senior Kicker out of Denver East HS (Colorado) has officially commited to Colorado Football! Zach attended my June small group kicking camp this summer and also worked with me for a couple 1 on 1 lessons as he flew out from the Rocky Mountain State to Sunny California for a weekend of brushing up on his 'kicking skills.' While at my camp Zach won the competition for the longest kickoff. I wish Zach and his parents the best of luck in his future as a Colorado Buffalo!

Undefeated (13-0) Laguna Hills HS Wins CIF Championship

This year my team won the CIF Championship which is the biggest thing you can do in California HS Football. We went 13 and 0 and had a tremendous season. As you may know, I am the Special Teams Coach at the HS and work with the kickers/punters and help out with Special Teams schemes.

Our Kicker, Richie Hogan, was honored as 1'st Team All-CIF, 1'st Team All-Conference, and 1'st Team All-Orange County. I'm waiting to find out where he will be going to college. He is being heavily recruited by some top-notch division 1 football programs like Colorado State, Nebraska, Central Michigan, Utah, and some others. I anticipate some bigger football schools making offers very soon! Tune in to find out where he decides to go!

Tempe Arizona Kicking Camp (7/27/08) Re-Cap

We had the Tempe, Arizona Kicking Camp yesterday and amidst the 105+ degree Arizona heat, the camp was a major success. Billy Cundiff, 7+ year NFL veteran kicker previously with the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs and owner of http://www.cundiffkicking.com/ conducted the camp with me. He was great to work with and all the kids learned many new skills and techniques both from Billy and I to help propel their performance to an entirely new level.

I am going to be posting a before and after section of photos and videos of the camp as there were several kids who dramatically improved from start to finish of the camp, particularly in their contact position and follow-through. Andrew C. won the most accurate field goal competition and a few other kickers really impressed us, particularly the 13 year old Garret W. who hung in there with the older guys and Rocky F. from Tucson.

It was a pleasure working with everyone at the camp and many parents expressed interest in meeting again in Arizona for private lessons. Since so many of you who live in Arizona want to meet again I am going to work out arrangements so I can come out for a small group lesson day or 2 day session with those interested. If you live in Arizona and want to partake in the lessons please get in touch with me as this is being tentatively planned for sometime in the next month or 2. North Texas Kicking Camp 7/26/08 RE-CAP

We had the University of North Texas kicking camp at Fouts Field yesterday in Denton, Texas. I took a tour of the UNT campus the day before the camp and was thoroughly impressed with the updated facility and all they have goung on at the school. Their football team is on the rise and they got a new coach who should be cranking up the program quickly. The camp was a success and we had a lot of great talent there. The temperature read 105 degrees outside the stadium but on that field turf stadium I believe it was over 115 degrees! While the temperature was hot, I believe the kicking talent was hotter!

Robert S. won the 'most accurate field goal kicker' award for the 15+ year old competition group. He won a pair of Coreshorts compression shorts. Garret C. won the under 15 year old competition group and won the UNT logo apparel. He is only 13 years old and kicked as well as most high school upper-classmen! Ian M. won the most accurate punter award and won the kicking world logo apparel. Everyone did well in both the instruction portion of the camp and the competition.

At the end of the camp every parent spoke with me and/or e-mailed me how much of a good time their sons had at the camp and how beneficial it was for them in getting ready for the 2008 football season. 3 of the students want to set up private lessons in the near future, so it looks like I might be making a trip back to Texas very soon for a group lesson weekend. If you live in the Texas area and want to take part in the next camp or be a part of the group lesson we are scheduling, please give me a call.

Since it was my first time in Texas, I've included some pictures of my trip in Dallas and Denton. My favorite stop was at Rudy's where I had peppered tenderloin, corn on the cob, and home-made potato salad. Texas sure does everything BIG and I noticed how much pride Texans have in their state by seeing the Texas state flag flown everywhere I went! Also I saw the southern hospitality by the nice and calm demeanor of the people and friendly and helpful attitudes. I enjoyed my trip and anticipate coming back soon.

High School Kicking Camps- National Locations 2008

I'm looking forward to our upcoming kicking camps in 2 new locations this summer at University of North Texas- Fouts Field in Denton, TX and Tempe High School in Tempe, AZ. There will be two sessions as usual, the morning kicking camp session from 9am-1130am is exclusively for youth kickers & punters ages 7-12 and all beginners who are just starting out. The afternoon kicking camp session is from 12pm-230pm and it is exclusively for kickers only, ages 13 and up who are in middle school, high school, or higher. You can sign up to either session depending upon your individual skill level and/or age. For our afternoon session the kicking camp is designed more as a college kicking camp where students will learn advanced field goal kicking and kickoff techniques to help propel their skills to another level. By the completion of the camp students will learn how to add at least 3 more yards to their kickoffs, understand the proper way to aim on field goals and minimize chances for errors, the proper follow-through on kickoffs (which are different from field goals), learn strategies to deal with the 'mental game,' and also become more poised and confident in pressure situations as we will be having various head to head kicking competitions, knock-out competitions, last man standing kicking competition, pressure-drills, and last-second game winner drills.

If you are a middle school kicker or a high school kicker and are looking to dramatically improve and become a college kicker, this special college kicking camp afternoon session is for you! In addition to all the fine instruction you will receive, we will also conduct a special 30 minute presentation from 11:30am-12:00pm (which is open to ALL football players, coaches, and parents, not just kickers & punters). In this discussion Coach John Baker and/or myself will teach you the secrets you need to know about the college football recruitment process, how to gain exposure to college coaches, how to best prepare your marketing materials which include items like your kicking highlight video, athletic resume, letters of recommendations from coaches, kicking coaches, and teachers, and how to show the coaches you mean business and you are the BEST choice for their program.
